Brooke and Kris’s wedding, Four Seasons Hotel in Austin, Texas

For this awesome wedding, we truly went all across Texas (or it felt like it!).  The bride invited us to start capturing their wedding day story at her parent’s house in Leander.  It was great because we were able to see the room she grew up in, as well as see her getting her hair done.  Brooke wasn’t hardly nervous at all, either.  I really had a great opportunity to develop a great relationship with the bride and her mother, and it was great to see ‘where they came from’.

Once she finished getting her hair done, Brooke and the girls went over to First United Methodist Church in Round Rock, Texas, for the ceremony.  It’s a beautiful church with a fairly-new sanctuary.  The church really had a great amount of natural light, which allowed for some really great portraits and candids.  We met up with Kris and the guys at the church and hung out with them a little, too.  These guys had been pretty busy that day, with having a paintball match that morning and playing a few rounds of golf in the morning.

The ceremony was great, and Visual Lyrics did a really beautiful job with the flowers and arrangements.  The ceremony was unique in that both her pastor and his mom presided over the ceremony.  Brooke looked stunning in her dress.  Kris wore some cuff-links that were given to him by Brooke and even got a massage from his dad before the wedding.

We then were off to the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Austin. Since it was such great weather outside, I was able to grab about 5 minutes of time for a quick portrait session down by the waterfront on Lake Austin.  It was boiling hot outside (ok, not boiling, but definitely in the 90’s), so we didn’t stay too long.  After that, we went inside to party with (in my opinion) the best live band for weddings in Austin, ‘The Big Time’.  This band is so awesome because they keep people dancing the ENTIRE night for EVERY song.  This is the second wedding that we have done with them, and they keep getting better and better.

Brooke and Kris are both TCU grads, and Kris had a unique cake with the mascot on-top (see below).  They both are very proud of their school, and he wears his graduation ring proudly.  His other hand now has some competition, though.  TCU is also where they both met, and where she now works.  It was fun for Brooke, too, because she got married in the church that she grew up in and many of her TCU alumni friends were able to make it for the wedding.

It was great to see another couple who really love each other.

Here’s Kris taking a peak at his mom during prayer.

 Here’s that frog!

Not to be mean, but I was thinking ‘why couldn’t his best man here (Kris had two best men) give the baby to his wife?’  Oh well, I guess raising a child is a full-time job.

Here’s one of the singers of the Big Time band.  He broke out the cow bell later in the night, too.  I know when I have a fever, the only prescription is MORE COWBELL.

One of the singers of the band does a great job of getting the crowd involved, too.

Brooke and Chris’s Engagement, four seasons hotel in austin, texas

Because of the extreme heat that’s here in Austin right now, we wanted to stay somewhere close to some AIR CONDITIONING!  So, we hung out at the Four Seasons Hotel and took in some of the amazing greenery that’s still around for this time of the year.

Before Brooke and Chris arrived, I saw a couple of weddings going on during our session (one at Four Seasons and one at Shoreline Grill).  I only knew the photographer who working the Four Seasons Wedding, Suzi Varin of Suzi Q Weddings.  She’s a doll and so fun to hang out with.

Anyway, I got meet Brooke again (we just finished her bridal the week before) and I met Kris for the first time.    This couple was really great to work with and they were pretty laid back, despite the heat!  We had to get the session done this week, too, because their wedding is only in a couple of weeks.

We really captured some fun moments, though we did it pretty quick because of the warm weather.  The lighting was AWESOME and we had clear skies and some really awesome golden light.  I really love this time of the day for portraits!  I’ll update this entry with some images shortly.  I’m so glad that they chose us to be their Austin Wedding Photographer.

Brooke’s Bridal, four seasons hotel in austin, texas

We took one of our August brides out to the Four Seasons Hotel on Lake Austin for a HOT bridal session.  HOT as in 100 DEGREES HOT!  Thank goodness we could go back inside for some cool AC every few minutes or so.

I was so excited to finally meet Brooke.  She and Kris live up in Dallas, so I never got to meet them until now.  She was a pleasure to meet and she was a pleasure to work with.  I got to meet her mom and dad again (he’s into photography, so we had a good talk), and I got meet one of her bridesmaids named Stephanie.  Brooke was truly gorgeous, and I know that Kris is going to be uber-excited to see her coming down the aisle.

I’m so excited that she chose us to be their Austin Wedding Photographer.  We will see her again in a few weeks for the wedding!
